 Disability is a contested concept, with different meanings in different communities.  It may be used to refer to physical or mental attributes that some institutions, particularly medicine, view as needing to be fixed (the medical model). It may refer to limitations imposed on people by the constraints of an ableist society . Or the term may serve to refer to the identity of disabled people. Physiological functional capacity  is a related term that describes an individual's performance level. It gauges one's ability to perform the physical tasks of daily life and the ease with which these tasks are performed. PFC declines with advancing age to result in frailty, cognitive disorders or physical disorders, all of which may lead to labeling individuals as disabled.

Dr. Ganapathi Bonela, he studied at MA (Public Administration) and MA(Social Work) from Andhra University.  Later he has done his Ph.D degree in Social Work from the same University on the topic Inclusive strategies to empower the Physically Challenged: study in North Coastal District of Andhra Pradesh. Presently he is a PDF, UGC Scholor in the department of social work Andra University. He has published several articles in various journals. He has attended and presented papers in International and National seminars. He also actively participated in several workshop and seminars organized in the department. Presently he is a PDF scholar in the department of Social Work.  

Prof. P. Arjun studied M.A Social Work in Andhra University and Obtained his Ph.D from Andhra University. He also completed LLM and presently pursuing his another Ph.D in Law. He has also done PG Diploma in Yoga from Andhra University. He has been teaching to Post Graduate students of Social work since 1994 and currently he is working as Professor of Social work , Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. He authored two books and published several articles in reputed National and International journals. He is guiding Ph.D and M.Phil scholars in Social work. He also successfully completed a Research Project on "Youth in Conflict" funded by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute for Youth Development, Sriperumbudur, Tamilnadu. He also served as member Board of Studies in Social work for various Universities of Andhra Pradesh and also served as Head of the Department of Social work. He has held many academic and administrative responsibilities. He has been associating with many NGOs and welfare associations to serve the community.  At present, he is serving as Chairperson PG Board of Studies of Social work.
